Washington State Volleyball Defeats Oregon in Top-10 Matchup

The Washington State Cougars volleyball team pulled off an impressive victory over the Oregon Ducks in a top-10 matchup on Saturday night. The Cougars came out on top in a five-set thriller, winning 3-2 (25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 15-11).

Washington State was led by senior outside hitter Taylor Mims, who had a match-high 22 kills and added 10 digs for a double-double. Mims was supported by junior middle blocker Jocelyn Urias, who had 11 kills and three blocks. Senior setter Maggie O’Connell also had a strong performance, finishing with 42 assists and 12 digs.

The Ducks were led by junior outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller, who had 17 kills and 16 digs for a double-double. Senior setter August Raskie also had a strong performance, finishing with 40 assists and 10 digs.

The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading points throughout the match. In the end, it was the Cougars’ defense that made the difference, as they held the Ducks to a .179 hitting percentage.

The win was a big one for the Cougars, as it improved their record to 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the Pac-12. The victory also pushed them up to No. 8 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.

The Cougars will look to keep their momentum going as they take on No. 5 Stanford on Wednesday night. The match is sure to be another exciting one, as both teams are looking to make a statement in the Pac-12.
