It’s been a great season for the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team. After starting the season unranked, they have quickly risen to No. 3 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, behind only South Carolina and UCLA who are the only two unbeaten teams remaining.

The Hawkeyes have been on a tear since the start of the season, going 20-2 overall and 11-1 in Big Ten play. They have won their last nine games in a row and have been led by their star player Megan Gustafson who is averaging 25.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.

The Hawkeyes have also been impressive on defense, ranking in the top 10 nationally in both scoring defense and field goal percentage defense. They have held their opponents to just 56.2 points per game and have limited them to just 36.3% shooting from the field.

The Hawkeyes have also been impressive on the road, going 8-1 away from home this season. They have beaten some of the top teams in the country, including Maryland, Indiana, and Michigan State.

The Hawkeyes have also been getting great contributions from their other players as well. Senior guard Tania Davis is averaging 11.2 points and 5.8 assists per game while freshman guard Kathleen Doyle is averaging 10.3 points and 4.5 assists per game.

The Hawkeyes have a tough schedule ahead of them with games against Michigan, Nebraska, and Purdue still to come. But if they can keep up their winning ways, they could be looking at a very successful season and a possible run at the NCAA Tournament.
