Walt Garrison, Former Dallas Cowboys Player and Professional Rodeo Cowboy, Passes Away at 79

NFL Seattle

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Walt Garrison, a former Dallas Cowboys player and professional rodeo cowboy, at the age of 79.

Garrison was born in Oklahoma in 1941 and was a standout athlete in high school. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1966 and played for eight seasons as a running back. During his time with the Cowboys, he was part of the team that won Super Bowl VI in 1972. After retiring from football, Garrison went on to become a professional rodeo cowboy. He competed in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for more than two decades, winning several championships.

Garrison was well-known for his larger-than-life personality and his love of life. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. He was also a passionate supporter of his alma mater, Oklahoma State University, and attended many of their football games.

Garrison will be remembered for his contributions to both the NFL and the PRCA. He was an inspiration to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
