The University of Virginia Cavaliers will honor two of their fallen teammates before their first home game of the season. De’Vante Cross and Will Fudger, both members of the football team, were tragically killed in a car accident in July.

The Cavaliers will honor their memory with a moment of silence before their first home game against William & Mary on September 7. The team will also wear a special patch on their jerseys with the initials of the two players. The patch will be worn throughout the season to remember Cross and Fudger.

The two players were beloved members of the team and their loss has been felt deeply by the entire Virginia community. Head coach Bronco Mendenhall said, “De’Vante and Will were part of our football family and we are devastated by their loss. We will honor them before our first home game and throughout the season as we remember their lives and the impact they had on our program.”

The University of Virginia is also planning to establish a scholarship in Cross and Fudger’s memory. The scholarship will be awarded to a student-athlete who exemplifies the same spirit and dedication that Cross and Fudger brought to the team.

The University of Virginia is committed to honoring the memory of Cross and Fudger. Their legacy will live on through the scholarship and the special patch on the team’s jerseys. The Virginia Cavaliers will never forget their two fallen teammates and will continue to honor them for years to come.
