The University of Washington softball team is set to take on Louisiana in the Super Regionals of the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. On Thursday, May 23rd, the Huskies will face off against the Ragin’ Cajuns in a best-of-three series at Husky Softball Stadium in Seattle.
The Huskies come into the series with a record of 41-13 and have been ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation this season. They have been led by their powerful offense, which is led by All-American catcher Morganne Flores. Flores is hitting .365 this season with 11 home runs and 50 RBIs. She is joined by All-American infielder Sis Bates, who is hitting .382 with 11 home runs and 56 RBIs. The Huskies also have a strong pitching staff, led by Gabbie Plain, who has an ERA of 1.76 and has struck out 212 batters this season.
The Ragin’ Cajuns come into the series with a record of 47-8 and have been ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation this season. They are led by their powerful offense, which is led by All-American infielder Alissa Dalton. Dalton is hitting .383 this season with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs. She is joined by All-American pitcher Summer Ellyson, who has an ERA of 0.90 and has struck out 246 batters this season.
This is sure to be an exciting series between two of the top teams in the nation. The Huskies will look to continue their impressive season and make a run at the College World Series, while the Ragin’ Cajuns will look to make their first ever appearance in the College World Series.
