UW Softball Falls to Oklahoma in Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series

The University of Washington softball team had a heartbreaking loss in Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series on June 8th. The Huskies were defeated by the Oklahoma Sooners, 4-2.

UW entered the game with a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series, but the Sooners quickly took control. Oklahoma scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Huskies were unable to mount a comeback, despite outhitting the Sooners 8-6.

UW pitcher Gabbie Plain was credited with the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in five innings of work. She struck out three batters and walked one. Offensively, the Huskies were led by Taylor Van Zee, who had two hits and an RBI.

The loss was a tough pill to swallow for the Huskies, who had been playing some of their best softball of the season heading into the game. UW had won 10 of its last 12 games and had outscored opponents by an average of 6.5 runs per game during that stretch.

The loss puts the Huskies in a must-win situation in Game 3 of the series. UW will need to win to keep its season alive and advance to the championship series. The game is scheduled for June 9th at 8:00 PM EST.

The Huskies will need to play their best softball of the season if they want to keep their season alive. It won’t be easy, but UW has shown that it can compete with the best teams in the country. With a little luck and some timely hitting, the Huskies could pull off an upset and keep their championship dreams alive.
