UW Men’s Track Coach Receives National Honor

The University of Washington men’s track and field team recently received some well-deserved recognition. Coach Greg Metcalf was named the National Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This award is given to the coach who has demonstrated excellence in coaching, leadership, and service to the sport.

Coach Metcalf has been at the helm of the UW men’s track and field program since 2006. During his tenure, he has led the team to three NCAA titles, seven Pac-12 titles, and four top-five finishes at the NCAA Championships. He has also coached numerous individual athletes to All-America honors.

This year, Coach Metcalf was recognized for his outstanding achievements with the National Coach of the Year award. He is the first UW coach to receive this honor since it was established in 1984. The award is a testament to Coach Metcalf’s dedication and commitment to developing a successful program.

In addition to his success on the track, Coach Metcalf is also committed to giving back to the community. He has been involved in numerous charitable initiatives, including coaching clinics for local high school athletes and mentoring programs for student-athletes.
