The University of Washington men’s basketball team had a tough start to their Pac-12 season, falling to the Colorado Buffaloes in their opener on Thursday night. The Huskies led for much of the game, but the Buffaloes rallied late to take the lead and eventually the win.

The Huskies were led by senior guard Quade Green, who scored 19 points and dished out five assists. Senior forward Jaden McDaniels added 17 points and nine rebounds, while freshman guard Marcus Tsohonis chipped in with 11 points. Despite the strong performances from the trio, the Huskies were unable to keep up with Colorado’s offensive attack.

The Buffaloes were led by junior guard McKinley Wright IV, who scored a game-high 24 points and added seven assists. Senior forward Tyler Bey added 15 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman guard D’Shawn Schwartz chipped in with 13 points. The Buffaloes shot an impressive 56 percent from the field and outrebounded the Huskies 35-26.

The Huskies had a chance to take the lead late in the game, but a missed layup by McDaniels sealed their fate. The loss drops Washington to 0-1 in Pac-12 play and 4-3 overall. The Huskies will look to bounce back on Saturday when they take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.

It was a tough loss for the Huskies, but they will have to put it behind them quickly as they look to make a run in the Pac-12 this season. With a talented core of players, Washington has the potential to be a force in the conference. They will need to put together a complete performance if they want to get back in the win column on Saturday.
