The University of Washington men’s basketball team had a strong showing on Saturday night, defeating UC San Diego 71-55. The Huskies were led by a stellar defensive performance and a career-high performance from junior guard Braxton Meah.

The Huskies came out of the gate strong, jumping out to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. UW never looked back, as they held the Tritons to just 33.3 percent shooting from the field and forced them into 14 turnovers. The Huskies also dominated the glass, outrebounding UCSD 42-27.

Braxton Meah was the star of the night for the Huskies, scoring a career-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. He also added four rebounds and three assists in the victory. Meah was the catalyst for the Huskies’ offense, as he was able to penetrate and create open shots for his teammates.

The Huskies were also able to get contributions from their bench, as freshman guard Elijah Hardy chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds. Senior guard David Crisp added 10 points and four assists, while freshman forward Jaden McDaniels contributed nine points and seven rebounds.

The victory was a big one for the Huskies, as it moved them to 6-2 on the season. They will look to continue their strong play when they take on Stanford on Thursday night. If they can continue to get strong performances from Braxton Meah and their bench, they should be able to keep their winning streak alive.
