USA Basketball Defeats Team World at Nike Hoop Summit

On April 13th, 2019, USA Basketball’s U19 team defeated Team World in the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Oregon. The USA team, led by head coach Bill Self of the University of Kansas, was victorious with a score of 90-81. This was the first time the USA Basketball team had won the Nike Hoop Summit since 2015.

The USA Basketball team was made up of some of the best high school basketball players in the country. These players included Cole Anthony (North Carolina), James Wiseman (Memphis), and Vernon Carey Jr. (Duke). The Team World roster was also filled with talented players from around the world, including Josh Green (Australia) and Killian Hayes (France).

The USA team started off strong, leading by as much as 15 points during the first half. However, Team World fought back and cut the lead to just four points at halftime. The second half saw both teams trading baskets, but the USA team was able to pull away late in the game and secure the victory.

The USA team was led by Cole Anthony, who scored a game-high 24 points. He was also named MVP of the game for his performance. Other notable players for the USA team included James Wiseman (18 points), Vernon Carey Jr. (14 points), and Isaiah Stewart (11 points). For Team World, Killian Hayes led the way with 21 points, while Josh Green added 14 points.

The victory for USA Basketball was a great accomplishment for the team and its players. It showed that they are some of the best young basketball players in the world and that they can compete with anyone. It will be exciting to see how these players develop over the next few years and how they will contribute to their respective college teams.
