The UConn Huskies have done it again! On New Year’s Day, the Huskies secured a national championship berth with a thrilling 20-7 victory over the Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl.
The Huskies had a strong showing in the first half, taking a 13-0 lead into halftime. UConn quarterback Casey Cochran threw for a touchdown and ran for another, while the defense held the Longhorns to just one field goal.
In the second half, the Huskies continued their strong play. They added another touchdown late in the third quarter, and then held off a late rally by Texas to secure the victory.
The win was UConn’s first in a bowl game since 2011, and it was also the first time in school history that the Huskies have made it to the national championship game.
The Huskies will now face off against the Florida State Seminoles in the national championship game on January 6th. It will be a tough battle, but UConn is confident that they can pull off the win and bring home a national title.
The Huskies have worked hard all season long to get to this point, and now they have their chance to make history. All of Connecticut is behind them, and they are sure to put on a show in the national championship game.
Go Huskies!
