The UCLA Women’s Basketball team made history on Sunday, January 12th, 2020 when they improved their record to 14-0 with a 65-54 win over Oregon State. This is the first time in program history that the Bruins have achieved such a feat.

The Bruins were led by senior guard Japreece Dean, who scored 19 points and had six assists. Dean was also named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for her performance against Oregon State. She was joined by Michaela Onyenwere, who added 15 points and nine rebounds, and Kennedy Burke, who had 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Bruins defense was also key in their victory, as they held Oregon State to just 34 percent shooting from the field. UCLA also outrebounded the Beavers 38-27, and forced 14 turnovers.

The win was especially impressive considering that Oregon State had previously been undefeated in conference play. The Beavers had also beaten UCLA in their previous meeting this season.

UCLA’s 14-0 start is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and coaching staff. It also speaks to the team’s commitment to excellence and their ability to come together as a unit.

The Bruins will look to continue their winning streak when they take on Washington State on Thursday, January 16th. With a win, UCLA will become the first team in program history to start 15-0.

UCLA Women’s Basketball is off to a historic start this season, and it will be exciting to see how far they can go. With their strong defense and balanced scoring attack, the Bruins have all the tools they need to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this year.
