Stanford Women’s Basketball Team Earns Coach Tara VanDerveer 1,200th Win with 71-59 Victory Over Washington

The Stanford Women’s Basketball team made history on Sunday, November 24th, 2019 when they earned their coach Tara VanDerveer her 1,200th win with a 71-59 victory over the Washington Huskies. This milestone victory makes VanDerveer the second-winningest coach in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history.

The game was a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the Stanford Women’s Basketball team. They played with incredible energy and enthusiasm, and their defense was outstanding. The team was led by freshman forward Ashten Prechtel, who scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Senior guard Kiana Williams also had a great game, scoring 19 points and dishing out four assists.

The win was especially meaningful for Coach VanDerveer, who has been coaching at Stanford since 1985. She has led the team to two National Championships and 11 Final Fours during her tenure. She is also the first coach in NCAA history to lead two different teams to multiple Final Fours.
