Shawn Kemp Pleads Not Guilty to Alleged Involvement in Tacoma Mall Shooting

On August 6th, 2020, former NBA star Shawn Kemp plead not guilty to charges of alleged involvement in a shooting at the Tacoma Mall in Washington state. The incident occurred on July 30th, when two people were shot and injured at the mall.

Kemp was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He was released from jail on August 2nd after posting a $500,000 bond.

At his arraignment, Kemp entered a plea of not guilty and his attorney, John Henry Browne, stated that Kemp was not involved in the shooting. Browne also said that Kemp was at the mall at the time of the incident, but he was not involved in any way.

Kemp is a former NBA player who played for the Seattle SuperSonics from 1989 to 1997. During his career, he was an All-Star six times and was named to the All-NBA Third Team three times. After his retirement from the NBA in 2003, Kemp has been involved in numerous business ventures.
