The No. 4 Iowa women’s basketball team had a dominant performance on Sunday, led by freshman phenom Caitlin Clark’s 14th career triple-double in a 103-69 rout of Rutgers.
Clark, who is just a freshman, put on a show for the Hawkeyes, finishing with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. She was one of four Iowa players to score in double figures, with Monika Czinano (22 points), Gabbie Marshall (14 points) and McKenna Warnock (13 points) also having impressive performances.
The Hawkeyes were in control from the outset, taking a 15-point lead into halftime and never looking back. Iowa shot an impressive 57.6 percent from the field and outrebounded the Scarlet Knights by a margin of 46-29.
Clark’s triple-double was her 14th of her career, which is an Iowa record. She is now just one triple-double away from tying the Big Ten record for most career triple-doubles, held by Ohio State’s Samantha Prahalis.
The win was Iowa’s sixth in a row and improved their record to 16-2 overall and 11-2 in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes have been one of the most impressive teams in the country this season and look poised to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
Caitlin Clark has been the star of the show for Iowa this season, and her performance on Sunday was yet another reminder of why she is one of the best players in the country. With her triple-double, she has cemented her place in Iowa basketball history and looks to be on track for a special career.
