NHL Offers Support to New Professional Women’s Hockey League, But Not Financially

Seattle Sports

The National Hockey League (NHL) recently announced its support for the new professional women’s hockey league, the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA). While the NHL has offered its support in other ways, it has not offered any financial assistance to the league.

The PWHPA is a group of over 200 professional women’s hockey players from around the world who are committed to creating a sustainable professional league for women’s hockey. The players have been vocal in their desire for a professional league that is financially viable and provides a living wage for players.

The NHL has offered its support to the PWHPA in a variety of ways, including providing access to NHL facilities and resources, allowing the use of NHL logos, and offering advice and guidance on league operations. However, the NHL has not offered any financial support to the league.

The lack of financial support from the NHL has been a source of frustration for many of the players in the PWHPA. While the NHL has been supportive in other ways, the players feel that without financial assistance, it will be difficult for the league to become financially viable.

The lack of financial support from the NHL is not unique to the PWHPA. The NHL has also not provided any financial assistance to other professional women’s sports leagues, such as the National Women’s Soccer League and the Women’s National Basketball Association.

While the NHL has not offered any financial assistance to the PWHPA, it is encouraging to see that the league is still receiving support from the NHL in other ways. It is hoped that with continued support from the NHL, the PWHPA will be able to create a sustainable professional league for women’s hockey.
