The LSU Women’s Basketball team is making history! For the first time ever, the Tigers have been ranked No. 1 in the preseason Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll. This is a huge accomplishment for the team, as they are the defending national champions.

The Tigers had a remarkable season last year, finishing with a record of 33-4 and winning the SEC regular season title and tournament championship. They then went on to win the NCAA tournament, becoming the first team in SEC history to do so.

The team is led by head coach Nikki Fargas, who is entering her 11th season with the Tigers. She has had an impressive career with LSU, leading them to five NCAA tournament appearances and four SEC tournament championships. She was also named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2018.

The Tigers have a talented roster this season, with four returning starters from last year’s championship team. Senior guard Khayla Pointer was named to the preseason All-SEC first team, while junior guard Ayana Mitchell was named to the second team. The team also has two freshmen who were ranked in the top-50 of the 2020 recruiting class.

The Tigers will look to defend their national championship this season, and with their No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25 poll, they have a great chance of doing so. They will face some tough competition in the SEC, but if they can stay focused and play to their potential, they could be looking at another championship run.

It’s an exciting time for LSU Women’s Basketball, and the team is ready to take on the challenge of defending their title. With their No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25 poll, they have set the bar high for themselves and will look to make history once again this season.
