On June 22nd, the Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers defeated the No. 1 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons 2-0 in the College World Series semifinals. This victory marks the first time in LSU history that they have advanced to the College World Series Finals.
The Tigers were led by starting pitcher Zack Hess, who threw seven shutout innings and allowed only four hits. Hess was masterful in his performance, striking out seven batters and walking none. He also received tremendous support from the Tigers’ defense, which turned two double plays and made several key plays to keep Wake Forest off the board.
The Tigers’ offense was also impressive, as they managed to score two runs on six hits. Shortstop Josh Smith drove in the first run with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning. The second run came in the bottom of the sixth, when center fielder Zach Watson scored on a wild pitch.
The victory was a huge one for LSU, as it marks their first ever appearance in the College World Series Finals. The Tigers will now face either Michigan or Vanderbilt in the championship series, with the first game set for June 24th.
This is a remarkable achievement for LSU, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of their players and coaches. The Tigers have been playing great baseball all season long, and they will look to continue their success in the finals. No matter what happens, this has been an incredible season for LSU, and they should be proud of their accomplishment.
