NFL Seattle

It’s official: Joe Flacco is headed to Cleveland. The former Super Bowl MVP has agreed to a one-year contract with the Browns, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Flacco, 34, was released by the Denver Broncos in March after spending one season with the team. He was the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens from 2008-2018, leading them to a Super Bowl victory in 2012.

The Browns have been looking for a veteran quarterback to pair with second-year starter Baker Mayfield. Flacco is expected to provide a steady presence in the locker room and on the field. He has a career passer rating of 84.1 and has thrown for more than 3,000 yards in eight of his 11 NFL seasons.

Flacco’s contract with the Browns is for one year and includes incentives based on postseason success. If the Browns make the playoffs, Flacco will receive a bonus of up to $5 million. He can also earn additional money if he reaches certain statistical milestones.

Flacco’s arrival in Cleveland could be a sign that the Browns are serious about making a playoff run this season. The team has made several moves this offseason to improve their roster, including signing running back Kareem Hunt and trading for wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Flacco’s experience and leadership could be just what the Browns need to take the next step in their development. With Flacco at the helm, the Browns could be a serious contender in the AFC North this season.
