Injury-Depleted NFL Teams Rely on Backup Quarterbacks for Postseason Push

Nation & World, NFL Seattle

As the NFL season winds down, many teams are dealing with injuries to key players. This has been especially true for teams at the quarterback position, where injuries have forced teams to rely on backup quarterbacks to make a postseason push.

The New Orleans Saints are a prime example of this. After losing their starting quarterback, Drew Brees, to a thumb injury, the Saints have had to rely on backup Teddy Bridgewater to lead the team. Bridgewater has stepped up and done an admirable job, leading the Saints to a 5-0 record in the five games he has started.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have also had to rely on their backup quarterback, Mason Rudolph, after losing Ben Roethlisberger to an elbow injury. Rudolph has done an admirable job in his first few starts, leading the Steelers to a 3-2 record in his five starts.

The Indianapolis Colts have also had to rely on their backup quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, after losing Andrew Luck to a calf injury. Brissett has done an admirable job in his first few starts, leading the Colts to a 4-1 record in his five starts.

These teams are not alone in their reliance on backup quarterbacks. The Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars have all had to rely on their backups due to injuries to their starting quarterbacks.

Injury-depleted teams have had to rely on their backup quarterbacks to make a postseason push. While these backups may not be as talented as the starters they replaced, they have done an admirable job in leading their teams to success. It will be interesting to see how these teams fare in the postseason and if their backups can continue to lead them to victory.
