Idaho State Defeats Portland State 38-24 Behind Cooke and Hays’ Leadership

The Idaho State Bengals have done it again! On Saturday, November 9th, the Bengals defeated the Portland State Vikings 38-24 in a hard-fought game. Led by the dynamic duo of quarterback Matt Cooke and running back Ty Hays, the Bengals were able to pull off the victory and remain undefeated in conference play.

Cooke was the star of the show, throwing for a career-high four touchdowns and completing 20 of his 28 passes for a total of 257 yards. He also rushed for a touchdown, giving him five total touchdowns on the day. Hays was also instrumental in the victory, rushing for a total of 124 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bengals defense also played a huge role in the victory, holding the Vikings to just 24 points. Linebacker Ryan Johnson had a monster game, recording nine tackles and two sacks. Cornerback Tyler Johnson also had a great game, recording two interceptions and returning one for a touchdown.

The Bengals now stand at 6-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play. With two games left in the regular season, the Bengals are in prime position to make a run at a conference championship. If Cooke and Hays continue to lead the way, the Bengals could be looking at a very successful season.
