Gil de Ferran, Two-Time Indianapolis 500 Winner and Brazilian Racing Legend, Passes Away at Age 56

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gil de Ferran, two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and Brazilian racing legend, at the age of 56.

Gil de Ferran was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1964. He began his racing career in 1982, competing in the Formula Ford 1600 series. He quickly rose through the ranks, competing in Formula 3 and Formula 3000 before joining the IndyCar Series in 1995.

In 2000, de Ferran won the Indianapolis 500, becoming the first Brazilian to do so. He followed this up with a second win in 2003, cementing his place in racing history. He also won the CART championship in 2000 and was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2013.

De Ferran retired from racing in 2003 and went on to become a team owner and a driving coach. He was also an ambassador for the sport, helping to promote motor racing in Brazil.

He will be remembered as one of the greatest drivers of all time, and his legacy will live on for generations to come. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
