It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Georgetown Women’s Basketball Coach Tasha Butts. Coach Butts passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28th after a two-year struggle with breast cancer.

Coach Butts was a beloved member of the Georgetown community. She had been the head coach of the women’s basketball team since 2014, and she was a passionate advocate for women’s sports. She was also an inspirational leader and mentor to her players, and she was known for her commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the court.

During her time at Georgetown, Coach Butts led the Hoyas to two NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2016. She was also a two-time Big East Coach of the Year and was named the WBCA District 1 Coach of the Year in 2017.

Coach Butts’ legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. She was a tireless advocate for women’s sports, and she was a role model for young athletes everywhere. Her passion for the game of basketball and her commitment to her players will never be forgotten.
