On Sunday, April 19th, the RBC Heritage golf tournament came to an exciting conclusion when Shane Fitzpatrick defeated Jordan Spieth in a sudden death playoff. This was Fitzpatrick’s first PGA Tour win and it was a hard-fought battle between two of the world’s top golfers.

The tournament began with Fitzpatrick and Spieth tied for the lead after the first round. Both golfers played consistently throughout the tournament, but Fitzpatrick was able to maintain a slight edge over Spieth. Heading into the final round, Fitzpatrick held a one-stroke lead over Spieth.

The final round was an exciting back-and-forth battle between the two golfers. Fitzpatrick and Spieth traded birdies and bogeys throughout the round, but neither was able to gain a decisive advantage. At the end of regulation play, both golfers were tied at 12-under par.

This forced a sudden death playoff between Fitzpatrick and Spieth. On the first playoff hole, Fitzpatrick hit a perfect approach shot to within five feet of the pin, while Spieth’s approach shot landed in a bunker. Fitzpatrick then made his birdie putt to win the tournament.

The victory was a huge moment for Fitzpatrick, who had been close to winning several times before but had never been able to seal the deal. After the win, he said, “It’s been a long time coming and I’m so happy to finally get that first win.”

The win was also a disappointment for Spieth, who had come so close to winning his first tournament since 2017. Despite the loss, Spieth was gracious in defeat and congratulated Fitzpatrick on his victory.

The RBC Heritage was an exciting tournament and it was great to see two of the world’s top golfers battle it out until the very end. In the end, it was Shane Fitzpatrick who emerged victorious and earned his first PGA Tour win.
