Eastern Michigan Football Revived by UW’s DeBoer, Grubb and McKeefery

The Eastern Michigan Eagles football team has been on the rise in recent years, thanks in large part to the leadership of head coach Chris Creighton and his staff. The Eagles have seen a resurgence in their program since Creighton took over in 2014, and the team has made three consecutive bowl appearances. However, the Eagles have taken it to a whole new level this season with the addition of offensive coordinator Mike DeBoer, defensive coordinator Brad Grubb, and special teams coordinator Mike McKeefery.

DeBoer is a veteran coach who has been around the college football scene for over 20 years. He has worked at several schools, including Wisconsin, where he was the offensive coordinator for the Badgers’ 2017 Big Ten Championship team. DeBoer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Eagles’ offense, and his presence has already been felt. The Eagles have scored over 30 points in four of their five games this season, and they are averaging over 400 yards of total offense per game.

Grubb is another veteran coach who has been around college football for over 20 years. He has worked at several schools, including Wisconsin, where he was the defensive coordinator for the Badgers’ 2017 Big Ten Championship team. Grubb brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Eagles’ defense, and his presence has already been felt. The Eagles are allowing just over 20 points per game this season, and they are holding opponents to under 300 yards of total offense per game.

McKeefery is a relatively new face to the college football scene, but he has already made an impact on the Eagles’ special teams unit. McKeefery was hired in 2019 after spending two seasons as the special teams coordinator at Wisconsin. He has brought an aggressive approach to the Eagles’ special teams unit, and it has paid off. The Eagles have blocked two punts this season and have returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

The addition of DeBoer, Grubb, and McKeefery to the Eastern Michigan Eagles staff has been a major factor in the team’s success this season. The trio brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program, and their presence has already been felt. The Eagles are off to a 5-0 start this season and are looking to make some noise in the Mid-American Conference. With DeBoer, Grubb, and McKeefery leading the way, the future looks bright for Eastern Michigan football.
