Brock Purdy and Tua Tagovailoa Named Starting Quarterbacks for 2021 Pro Bowl

The 2021 Pro Bowl will be one for the books! On Tuesday, the NFL announced that Iowa State’s Brock Purdy and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa will be the starting quarterbacks for the annual all-star game. This marks the first time in Pro Bowl history that two rookies will be starting at the same position.

Brock Purdy, a redshirt sophomore from Gilbert, Arizona, has had an impressive season with the Cyclones. He threw for 3,982 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2020, leading Iowa State to a 9-3 record and a berth in the Liberty Bowl. Purdy was also named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, given to the nation’s top quarterback.

Tua Tagovailoa, a redshirt junior from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, has been a star for the Crimson Tide since his freshman year. He threw for 3,966 yards and 43 touchdowns in 2020, leading Alabama to an 11-1 record and a berth in the College Football Playoff. Tagovailoa was also named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

These two quarterbacks have been among the best in college football this season, and they will now have the opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage. The 2021 Pro Bowl will be held on Sunday, January 31st at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It promises to be an exciting game with two of the best young quarterbacks in college football taking center stage.
