As the Seattle Seahawks enter the second quarter of the 2023 season, it’s time to take a look back at the first quarter and evaluate how the team has performed. Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times has released his report card for the Seahawks, grading the team’s performance in each area.

The offense has been the team’s strong point so far this season, earning an A- grade from Condotta. Quarterback Russell Wilson has been outstanding, throwing for 1,813 yards and 16 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He’s been aided by a strong running game, led by Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny, who have combined for 834 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. The offensive line has also done a great job of protecting Wilson, allowing just six sacks in the first four games.

The defense has also been solid, earning a B+ grade from Condotta. The defensive line has been especially impressive, led by Jarran Reed and Rasheem Green, who have combined for nine sacks and 15 tackles for loss. The secondary has also been strong, with Shaquill Griffin and Quandre Diggs leading the way with four interceptions and 11 passes defended between them.

Special teams has been a mixed bag for the Seahawks, earning a C+ grade from Condotta. Kicker Jason Myers has been solid, making nine of his 10 field goal attempts, but punter Michael Dickson has struggled, averaging just 40.2 yards per punt. The return game has also been lackluster, with Tyler Lockett and David Moore combining for just one return touchdown in the first four games.

Overall, the Seahawks have had a solid start to the season, earning an overall B+ grade from Bob Condotta. The offense has been outstanding, while the defense and special teams have both been solid. If the team can continue to perform at this level, they should be in contention for a playoff spot come December.
