The Seattle Pacific University Falcons had a great showing at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships on November 2nd. Annika Esvelt, a senior from Seattle Pacific, placed third overall in the women’s 6K race with a time of 21 minutes and 17.3 seconds.
Esvelt’s strong performance helped the Falcons to a fourth-place finish in the team standings. She was the top finisher for the Falcons, and her third-place finish was the best individual finish for a Seattle Pacific runner since 2013.
Esvelt has been a consistent performer for the Falcons throughout her collegiate career. She has been named to the GNAC All-Conference team each of the past three seasons and was named the GNAC Runner of the Week twice this season.
Esvelt’s performance at the GNAC Championships was especially impressive considering she had been dealing with an injury earlier in the season. She worked hard to get back to full strength and it paid off with her strong showing at the conference championships.
Esvelt’s performance was a bright spot for the Falcons in what was otherwise a difficult season. The team struggled with injuries throughout the year, but Esvelt’s strong showing gave them something to be proud of.
Esvelt’s performance is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport. She has been a leader for the Falcons throughout her collegiate career and her strong showing at the GNAC Championships is a fitting end to her time at Seattle Pacific.
