Portland Trail Blazers’ Robert Williams III Out for Season with Knee Injury

Seattle Sports

The Portland Trail Blazers have suffered a major blow with the news that Robert Williams III will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

The 23-year-old center was averaging 10.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in his second season with the Trail Blazers. He had been a key contributor off the bench, providing energy and a defensive presence.

The injury occurred during a game against the Dallas Mavericks on April 9th. Williams had to be helped off the court and was later diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee. After further evaluation, it was determined that he would need to have season-ending surgery to repair the damage.

The Trail Blazers have already been dealing with a number of injuries this season, including to star guard Damian Lillard. Losing Williams for the remainder of the season is a major setback for the team as they try to make a playoff push.

Williams had been making great strides this season and was showing signs of becoming a key player for the team in the future. His absence will be felt not only on the court, but in the locker room as well.

The Trail Blazers will now have to find a way to make up for Williams’ production and presence. It won’t be easy, but they will have to find a way to stay competitive in the Western Conference playoff race without him.

The team wishes Williams a speedy recovery and hopes he can return to full health in time for next season.
