The small town of Yelm, Washington is celebrating a major accomplishment this week. The Yelm Tornados high school football team has advanced to the 3A state title game thanks to a big run from senior quarterback Brayden Platt.
The Tornados were down by three points in the fourth quarter of their semi-final game against the Olympia Bears. With less than two minutes left in the game, Platt scrambled out of the pocket and ran for a 25-yard touchdown to give Yelm the lead. The Tornados defense held strong and the team was able to secure the victory.
Platt’s run was a thing of beauty and it was the highlight of the game. He was able to find an opening in the Bears defense and take advantage of it. His speed and agility were on full display as he made his way to the endzone.
The Tornados now move on to the state title game where they will face off against the Bellingham Bulldogs. It will be a tough game for Yelm, but they have shown that they have what it takes to compete with the best teams in the state.
The entire town of Yelm is excited for their team and proud of what they have accomplished. Brayden Platt’s big run has given them hope that they can bring home a state championship. It will be an exciting game and everyone in Yelm will be cheering on their team.
