On Wednesday, the New York Yankees announced that they have placed outfielder Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list due to a hip injury. Judge, who is one of the most popular players on the team, has been dealing with the injury since late April.
The injury was initially diagnosed as a right oblique strain, but an MRI revealed that Judge has a small chip fracture in his right first rib. He has been receiving treatment for the injury since then, but it has not been enough to keep him in the lineup.
Judge has been one of the Yankees’ best players this season, batting .288 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in 33 games. He also leads the team in walks (25) and on-base percentage (.392). His absence will be a big blow to the team’s offense.
The Yankees have not yet announced a timeline for Judge’s return, but it is expected that he will miss at least a few weeks. In the meantime, the team will likely rely on outfielders Brett Gardner and Clint Frazier to fill the void left by Judge.
Judge’s injury is yet another setback for the Yankees, who have already been dealing with a slew of injuries this season. The team is currently without starting pitchers Luis Severino and James Paxton, as well as infielder Troy Tulowitzki.
The Yankees will hope that Judge can make a speedy recovery and return to the lineup soon. Until then, they will have to make do without one of their most important players.
