The Las Vegas Aces have continued their winning streak with a 98-81 victory over the New York Liberty on Sunday night. This marks their seventh consecutive victory, the longest active winning streak in the WNBA.
The Aces came out of the gate strong, leading by as many as 14 points in the first quarter. They maintained their lead throughout the game, thanks to a balanced attack from all five starters. A’ja Wilson led the way with 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Liz Cambage added 19 points and 8 rebounds. Jackie Young and Dearica Hamby each contributed 14 points, and Kayla McBride chipped in 10 points and 8 assists.
The Aces’ defense was also key to their success. They held the Liberty to just 34 percent shooting from the field and forced 15 turnovers. The Aces also outrebounded the Liberty 37-30, which helped them secure the win.
The win was especially impressive considering the Aces were without two of their starters, Angel McCoughtry and Kelsey Plum. McCoughtry is out for the season with a knee injury, while Plum is recovering from an ankle injury.
The Aces have now won seven straight games and are in first place in the WNBA standings with a record of 11-4. They have a two-game lead over the Washington Mystics and are looking to continue their winning streak.
The Aces have been one of the most impressive teams in the WNBA this season and their victory over the Liberty is further proof of their dominance. With two of their starters out, they were still able to come away with a convincing win. If they can keep up this level of play, they could be in for a very successful season.
