Washington Volleyball Falls to No. 5 Stanford in Four Sets

The Washington volleyball team suffered a tough loss on Saturday night, falling to No. 5 Stanford in four sets. The Huskies had a strong showing in the first set, taking it 25-20, but the Cardinal proved to be too much in the next three sets, winning 25-17, 25-19, and 25-15.

Washington was led by outside hitter Kara Bajema, who had a team-high 14 kills. She was supported by middle blocker Avie Niece, who had nine kills and two blocks. Setter Ella May Powell also had a strong performance, racking up 34 assists and seven digs.

The Cardinal were led by outside hitter Kathryn Plummer, who had a match-high 18 kills and three blocks. She was supported by middle blocker Audriana Fitzmorris, who had 11 kills and four blocks. Setter Jenna Gray had a strong performance as well, racking up 37 assists and 10 digs.

The Huskies put up a fight against the No. 5 team in the nation, but ultimately couldn’t pull off the upset. They will look to bounce back in their next match against Oregon State on Thursday night. Washington will need to play with more consistency if they want to have a chance at upsetting the Beavers.
