The Washington State Cougars may have lost the Apple Cup to the Washington Huskies, but their defense provided a bright spot in the defeat. Despite the final score of 31-13, the Cougars defense held the Huskies to just 17 points through three quarters, and kept them out of the end zone in the fourth quarter.

The Cougars defense was led by senior linebacker Jahad Woods, who had a career-high 16 tackles. Woods was all over the field, making plays in both the run and pass game. He was also credited with a forced fumble and a pass breakup. Junior safety Skyler Thomas also had a great game, recording 10 tackles and two pass breakups.
