Washington State University wide receiver Josh Kelly has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. Kelly was one of the Cougars’ top receivers, recording 30 receptions for 441 yards and two touchdowns in the 2019 season.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver was a three-star recruit out of high school and had offers from several other schools, including Oregon State, Arizona State, and Boise State. He chose to join the Cougars in 2018 and was a key contributor in his two seasons with the team.

Kelly was expected to be a major contributor in the 2020 season, but with the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming season due to the coronavirus pandemic, he has decided to explore his options. He will now have the opportunity to find a new school that better fits his needs.

The Cougars will certainly miss Kelly’s presence on the field, as he was one of their top receivers. He had a knack for making big plays and was a reliable target for quarterback Anthony Gordon.

Washington State head coach Nick Rolovich expressed his appreciation for Kelly’s contributions to the team. “Josh was a great teammate and an even better person,” Rolovich said. “We wish him all the best as he continues his football journey.”

Kelly’s decision to enter the transfer portal is certainly a blow to the Cougars, but they will now have to look for other players to step up in his absence. It will be interesting to see where Kelly ends up and how he performs at his new school.
