Washington State is home to some of the best girls basketball teams in the nation, and this year is no exception. The Associated Press recently released its rankings for the top teams in the state, and Mead and Camas High Schools have both been ranked first in the poll.
Mead High School is located in Spokane and has been a powerhouse in girls basketball for many years. They have won the state championship four times in the past five years, and are currently on a streak of three consecutive titles. The team is led by head coach Mike McLaughlin, who has been at the helm since 2011. The team has a deep roster of talented players, including two Division I commits in guard Kiana Brown and forward Hannah Caudill.
Camas High School is located in Vancouver and is also a perennial powerhouse in girls basketball. The team has won the state championship three times in the past five years, and is currently on a streak of two consecutive titles. The team is led by head coach Mark Strickland, who has been at the helm since 2013. The team is led by guard Mackenzie Lattin, who has committed to play at Oregon State University next season.
Both Mead and Camas have had tremendous success in girls basketball over the past few years, and it’s no surprise that they have been ranked first in the AP poll. Both teams have talented rosters and experienced coaches, and they are sure to continue their success this season. It will be exciting to see how these two teams fare against each other and the rest of the state this year.
