The Washington State Cougars had a huge win over the Portland State Vikings on Saturday night, with a final score of 92-78. Led by the dynamic duo of Isaac Rice and Jaden Jones, the Cougars were able to pull away in the second half and secure the victory.
Rice and Jones were both outstanding, combining for 46 points in the win. Rice led the way with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting, while Jones was just as impressive with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting. The two guards were also able to get their teammates involved, dishing out a combined seven assists.
The Cougars were also able to dominate the boards, outrebounding the Vikings 41-25. Washington State’s bigs, such as center Ryan Mikesell and forward Noah Williams, were able to control the paint and grab key rebounds that allowed the Cougars to extend their lead.
The Cougars’ defense was also impressive, holding the Vikings to just 35% shooting from the field. Washington State was able to force Portland State into tough shots all night, and it paid off as they were able to come away with the victory.
All in all, it was a great performance from the Cougars, and they will look to carry this momentum into their next game against Oregon State. With Rice and Jones leading the way, Washington State looks poised to make some noise in the Pac-12 this season.
