The University of Washington Women’s Soccer team had a tough loss against the No. 4 ranked UCLA Bruins on Sunday. The Huskies put up a good fight, but ultimately fell 3-2 in a hard-fought match.
The Huskies got off to a strong start, scoring the first goal of the match in the sixth minute. The goal came from forward Jenna Holtz, who was able to capitalize on a well-placed cross from midfielder Emma Eddy. The Huskies were able to keep the lead for the majority of the first half, but UCLA was able to equalize in the 33rd minute.
The second half saw both teams battle for the lead, with UCLA taking it in the 67th minute. The Huskies were able to pull one back in the 79th minute, with forward Sarah Shimer scoring off of a corner kick. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as UCLA was able to hold on for the win.
