The University of Washington Huskies have been dealt a tough blow with the injury of starting wide receiver Jalen McMillan. However, the team has been able to find a silver lining in the form of freshman wide receiver Giles Jackson.
Jackson, a four-star recruit out of Oakley, California, has stepped up in a big way in McMillan’s absence. In the Huskies’ first game without McMillan, Jackson had five catches for a total of 103 yards and one touchdown. He followed that up with another impressive performance against Oregon State, catching four passes for a total of 77 yards and two touchdowns.
Jackson’s emergence has been a welcome sight for the Huskies, who have been struggling to find offensive production in the passing game. With McMillan out, Jackson has become the go-to target for quarterback Dylan Morris. His ability to make plays downfield has given the Huskies a much-needed spark on offense.
Jackson’s performance has been even more impressive considering his age and lack of experience. At just 18 years old, he is one of the youngest players in the Pac-12 conference. Despite his youth, he has been able to make an immediate impact on the field and become a reliable target for Morris.
The Huskies will be hoping that Jackson can continue his strong play in the absence of McMillan. If he can keep up his production, the Huskies will be in good shape as they look to make a run at the Pac-12 title. With Jackson leading the way, the Huskies have a chance to make some noise in the conference and beyond.
