The University of Washington Huskies softball team made a huge statement on Sunday, April 11th, 2021, with a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Oregon State Beavers. The game was tied 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jadelyn Allchin stepped up to the plate and delivered a go-ahead home run to give the Huskies the win.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading leads throughout the contest. Oregon State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Huskies responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third. The Beavers then took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth, only for the Huskies to tie it up in the bottom of the sixth.
With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Jadelyn Allchin stepped up to the plate with two outs and delivered a clutch home run to give the Huskies the lead. Allchin’s heroics were the difference in the game, as the Huskies held on for a 5-4 victory.
The win was a huge statement for the Huskies, who are now 8-2 on the season and have won seven of their last eight games. It was also a great moment for Jadelyn Allchin, who has been one of the team’s most consistent players this season. She finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and her go-ahead home run.
The Huskies will look to continue their winning ways as they take on Oregon State again on Monday, April 12th. With a win, they would move to 9-2 on the season and further solidify their place as one of the top teams in the Pac-12. Regardless of what happens, though, Jadelyn Allchin will always be remembered for her go-ahead home run that helped give the Huskies a thrilling 5-4 victory over Oregon State.
