The University of Washington men’s basketball team made a statement in their exhibition game against the French professional team ASVEL, winning by a score of 82-68. Led by freshman point guard Sahvir Wheeler, the Huskies were able to take control of the game early and never looked back.
Wheeler, a native of Houston, Texas, was the star of the show for the Huskies, finishing with a team-high 21 points and seven assists. He was able to get to the rim at will and was able to find open teammates for easy buckets. His ability to control the game and make the right decisions was on full display throughout the contest.
The Huskies were also able to get contributions from other players, with five other players scoring in double figures. Jaden McDaniels had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Nahziah Carter added 15 points and seven rebounds.
The win was a great way for the Huskies to start their European tour. They will now travel to Spain for three more exhibition games before returning home. It was also a great opportunity for the players to gain experience playing against professional competition.
The Huskies will look to build on this performance as they continue their European tour and prepare for the upcoming season. With Wheeler leading the way, the Huskies have the potential to be a force in the Pac-12 this year. If they can continue to play like they did against ASVEL, they could be in for a special season.
