The Seattle Sounders have been dealt a major blow with two of their star players, Kelyn Rowe and Cristian Roldan, suffering injuries. Both players have been instrumental in the Sounders’ success this season, and their absence will be felt. Here are the latest updates on their injuries.
Kelyn Rowe suffered a knee injury during a training session on June 5th. He was immediately taken to the hospital for an MRI, which revealed a torn meniscus in his right knee. He underwent successful surgery to repair the tear and is expected to be out for at least four weeks.
Cristian Roldan suffered an ankle injury during a match against the LA Galaxy on June 22nd. An MRI revealed a sprain in his right ankle. He is expected to be out for at least three weeks.
The Sounders have not yet announced how they will replace the two players in the lineup. However, they have signed two new players, Harry Shipp and Joevin Jones, to fill in for them. Shipp is a midfielder who has played for the Chicago Fire and Montreal Impact, while Jones is a defender who has played for the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC.
The Sounders will certainly miss Rowe and Roldan while they are out with injury. However, they have taken steps to ensure that their absence will not be too damaging to their season. With the addition of Shipp and Jones, they should be able to maintain their current level of play until both players are back to full health.
