U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Wins 1-0 Over Ireland, Alana Cook of OL Reign Scores Winning Goal

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team has done it again! On April 10th, 2021, the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team won 1-0 over Ireland in a friendly match. The winning goal was scored by Alana Cook of the OL Reign, a professional soccer team in the National Women’s Soccer League.

The match was held at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida, and was the first match for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team since their victory at the 2020 SheBelieves Cup in February. The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team was able to dominate the match, controlling possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities.

Alana Cook was able to capitalize on one of those opportunities in the second half, scoring the winning goal in the 51st minute of the match. Cook was able to get on the end of a cross from forward Christen Press and put it away with a powerful header.

The win was a great way for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team to kick off their 2021 campaign and build momentum heading into the Tokyo Olympics this summer. The team is looking to defend their gold medal from the 2016 Rio Olympics and will be looking to Alana Cook to be a key contributor in their quest for gold.

Cook is a 23-year-old defender from Connecticut and has been a part of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team since 2018. She has also been a key player for the OL Reign since joining the team in 2019. Cook is proving to be an invaluable asset for both teams and is sure to be an important part of their success in the future.

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team will be looking to build on this victory as they continue their preparations for the Tokyo Olympics this summer. With Alana Cook leading the way, they are sure to be a force to be reckoned with in Tokyo and beyond.
