The Portland Trail Blazers kicked off their 2019-2020 season with a bang, defeating the Toronto Raptors 99-91 in their season opener. The Blazers were led by Jerami Grant, who had an impressive 22 points and 8 rebounds.
Grant was the star of the night, shooting 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. He also added two blocks and two steals to his stat line. Grant was the only Blazer to score in double figures, with CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard both scoring nine points.
The Raptors were led by Pascal Siakam, who had a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Fred VanVleet added 19 points and 7 assists, while Serge Ibaka chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
The Blazers had a strong defensive effort, holding the Raptors to just 36.7 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Raptors 48-41.
The Blazers will look to continue their winning ways as they take on the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. If Grant can continue to play at a high level, the Blazers should be in good shape this season.
