The Milwaukee Bucks have announced that head coach Terry Stotts will be departing the team prior to the start of the NBA season. Stotts had been with the Bucks since 2018, and had led the team to a successful regular season record of 60-22 in 2019-2020.
The Bucks made the announcement on their official website, citing “personal reasons” for Stotts’ departure. The team also thanked Stotts for his contributions to the organization, and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Stotts was hired by the Bucks in 2018, and had a successful tenure with the team. He led the Bucks to a 60-22 record in 2019-2020, and was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Year. He also guided the team to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2019, where they were defeated by the eventual NBA champion Toronto Raptors.
The Bucks have yet to name a replacement for Stotts. Assistant coach Darvin Ham is expected to take over as interim head coach for the upcoming season. Ham has been with the Bucks since 2018, and has served as an assistant coach since then.
The Bucks will now enter the 2020-2021 season without their head coach of the past two seasons. It remains to be seen how the team will adjust to the change, and how they will fare in the upcoming season without Stotts at the helm.
