The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have done it! On Sunday, December 20th, the Bucs secured their first NFC South Division title since 2007 with a 9-0 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
The Bucs’ defense was the star of the show, shutting out the Panthers and holding them to just 181 total yards. The Bucs’ defensive line was especially impressive, sacking Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater six times and forcing three turnovers.
The Bucs’ offense was also able to make plays when it mattered most. Quarterback Tom Brady threw for 196 yards and a touchdown, while running back Ronald Jones II rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
The Bucs’ victory was especially sweet for their fans, who have been waiting 13 years for a division title. After the game, head coach Bruce Arians said, “It’s been a long time coming. I’m so proud of this team and the way they’ve battled all season long.”
The Bucs will now face the Washington Football Team in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. With their defense playing as well as it is and Brady leading the offense, the Bucs are in a great position to make a deep run in the postseason.
This division title is a huge accomplishment for the Bucs and their fans. After years of disappointment, the Bucs have finally secured a division title and are now ready to make a run at the Super Bowl.
