The San Antonio Spurs ended their five-game losing streak with a 118-105 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night, led by rookie center Luka Wembanyama’s 30 points.
The Spurs had been struggling in recent weeks, going 1-4 in their last five games. But Wembanyama provided a spark off the bench, scoring 30 points on 12-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.
Wembanyama’s performance was especially impressive considering he was playing in just his second NBA game. He was the Spurs’ first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and is already proving to be a valuable asset for the team.
The Spurs were also aided by strong performances from DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge. DeRozan scored 21 points and had seven assists, while Aldridge added 16 points and nine rebounds.
