The Seattle Mariners have announced that they have placed infielder J.P. Crawford on the seven-day concussion injury list. Crawford was injured in a game against the Texas Rangers on April 28th after being hit in the head by a pitch.
Crawford has been a key part of the Mariners’ lineup this season, batting .277 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 24 games. He has also been a solid defender, with a .988 fielding percentage at shortstop.
The seven-day concussion injury list is designed to give players time to recover from head injuries without having to miss too much time. Players on the list are eligible to return after seven days, but they must be cleared by a doctor before they can play again.
The Mariners have not yet announced who will take Crawford’s place in the lineup while he is out. It is likely that utility infielder Dylan Moore will get the majority of the starts at shortstop, with Tim Lopes and Shed Long also getting some playing time.
It is unclear how long Crawford will be out, as it is difficult to predict how long it will take for him to recover from a head injury. The Mariners will hope that he can return to the lineup soon, as he has been an important part of their success this season.
