The Seattle Mariners have had a lot to be proud of this season, and now they can add three more names to the list. Outfielders Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford, as well as catcher Cal Raleigh, have been named finalists for the Silver Slugger Award.
The Silver Slugger Award is given to the best offensive player at each position in both the American and National Leagues. It is based on a combination of offensive statistics, including batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.
Julio Rodriguez has been one of the Mariners’ most consistent hitters this season. He leads the team in home runs (27) and RBIs (83), and is second in batting average (.326). He has also been a great defender in the outfield, making some spectacular catches.
J.P. Crawford has also had a great season for the Mariners. He leads the team in batting average (.307) and on-base percentage (.385), and is second in home runs (20) and RBIs (68). He has also been a great defensive shortstop, making some incredible plays.
Cal Raleigh rounds out the trio of finalists for the Silver Slugger Award. He has been a great offensive catcher for the Mariners this season, leading the team in slugging percentage (.531) and on-base plus slugging (.872). He has also been a great defensive catcher, throwing out runners attempting to steal.
The Seattle Mariners have had a great season, and these three players have been a big part of that success. It will be exciting to see if any of them can bring home the Silver Slugger Award.
