The Seattle Seahawks have been without star wide receiver DK Metcalf for the past few weeks due to a knee injury. But two of their rookies, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo, have stepped up in his absence and shown that they can be trusted to make plays for the team.
Smith-Njigba, a fourth-round pick out of Ohio State, has been a pleasant surprise for the Seahawks. He has caught 11 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the past three games. He has also shown an ability to make tough catches in traffic, which is something that the Seahawks have been missing with Metcalf out.
Bobo, a sixth-round pick out of Colorado State, has also been impressive. He has caught 10 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in the past three games. He has also shown an ability to get open quickly and make plays after the catch.
Both Smith-Njigba and Bobo have been key contributors for the Seahawks in Metcalf’s absence. They have both shown an ability to make plays when given the opportunity, and they have been reliable targets for quarterback Russell Wilson.
The Seahawks will need both Smith-Njigba and Bobo to continue to make plays if they want to remain competitive in the NFC West. Metcalf is expected to return soon, but until then, these two rookies will be relied upon to make plays for the team. If they can continue to perform at a high level, then the Seahawks will be in good shape for the rest of the season.
